Christopher Hauchildt

PEER RESEARCHER, OPERATIONS COORDINATOR

Hauschildt joined the Walk With Me team in 2021 and is currently a full-time Peer Researcher and Operations Coordinator in the project. Hauschildt is a passionate advocate for social justice who believes that accessible mental health, housing, and substance use supports that meet individuals where they are at, is a fundamental human right. He has been honoured to help shape the project through the lens of his own lived experiences of substance use and houselessness. In his position within Walk With Me, he has developed a wide array of leadership skills related to community-engaged research and development. To date, Hauschildt has been responsible for coordinating hundreds of events, meetings, story walks and research sessions, undertaking tasks such as scheduling, communication, event coordination, logistics, and facilitation. He has facilitated community engaged research across dozens of communities and institutions. Beyond his management responsibilities, he supports the project through his skill sets related to audio recording, transcription, data management, coding, and writing, and brings to this work the many soft skills endemic to successful community engagement. Hauschildt recognizes the need for systems, policies, and decisions about People with Lived and Living Experience, to be informed by People with Lived and Living Experience. He is dedicated to the work of building and sustaining inclusive, equitable, and just communities for all.
