Turtle Pods

Turtle Pods are a design and prototyping project that responds to housing needs expressed by People With Lived and Living Experience. Our team was asked by People With Lived and Living Experience to develop a ‘sleeping pod’ that would serve as a replacement for tents and shopping carts, and provide a warm, dry environment where people could be protected from the elements while keeping their possessions safe. Turtle Pods are meant to serve a harm reduction role. They are not a replacement for long-term housing, but can provide an immediate, short-term solution that keeps people alive until they are able to move into a tiny home or long-term housing situation. Walk With Me continues to design Turtle Pods, and to work with others in community to pilot this project.
